Our Philosophy

Unseen Essence
At masses, our foundation lies in discovering the potential within undefined, shapeless matter waiting to be given purpose. We believe design extends far beyond mere functionality; there is an 'unseen essence' embedded in the identity of every piece. Understanding that the objects we choose to surround ourselves with are a reflection of our own identity, we constantly question the why behind an object's creation, and our studio explores the deep symbolic meaning of the things we interact with every day.

The studio treats every object as an opportunity for a tactile interaction between the user and the piece itself. Our goal is to provide a delightful experience with every touch and glance. Every creation from masses is designed to blur the boundaries—acting simultaneously as an expressive piece of art, a functional tool, and a beautifully crafted piece of homeware.

Architectural Background

Masses was founded in 2025 by Marco Ma, following his graduation from the University of Hong Kong with a Master of Architecture. Marco is dedicated to reimagining objects and homeware. Through approaching creation with deep conceptual reasoning, and placing modularity and experiential design at the core. The mission is to elevate objects beyond the ordinary. Seeing every pieces as an extension of our own identity—pieces that grow immersively alongside us, continuously weaving new and engaging experiences into the diverse contexts of everyday life.
